Last year, I had the privilege of being selected to participate on LearnZillion's CT Dream Team. The experience was amazing and has left me wanting to give it a shot at applying for LearnZillion's National Dream Team. The application process was very comprehensive and time consuming; however, very rewarding in itself. As a result, I have learned how to create video lessons using Google Slides and Screencast-o-matic.
If you have not checked out LearnZillion, I highly recommend it. They have lots of video lessons and lesson plans for most standards. One of the application requirements was to create a 3 minute video lesson using the LearnZillion format that focused on a grade level standard. I chose a grade 1 standard:
1.OA.7 -Understand the meaning of the equal sign, and determine if equations involving addition and subtraction are true or false. For example, which of the following equations are true and which are false? 6 = 6, 7 = 8 - 1, 5 + 2 = 2 + 5, 4 + 1 = 5 + 2.
The video lesson does not follow the entire LearnZillion format. It just focuses on the core lesson component. The following is my video submission:

I had created presentations with Google slides before, but I did not realize the potential that this resource had for creating student video lessons. I had also never tried Screencast-o-matic. These are two great tools that I am now able to use together.
